Plantains are a staple food in the tropical regions of the world, like Colombia, our founder's native Country.

Plantains are a close relative of bananas and tend to be mistaken for them. But in countries that produce  plantains — like Ecuador, Colombia and Costa Rica — people know the difference between the two. Plantains are starchier, contain less sugar than bananas and are used more as a cooking ingredient. Also, different than bananas, plantains are typically cooked before eating.
